Our home is located in the village of Scone a few kilometres from Perth in central Scotland, with easy access to Edinburgh and Glasgow (both with airports) as well as the spectacular landscapes of Perthshire and the Scottish Highlands. There are many excellent visitor attractions and facilities close by to suit all tastes and age groups and there is plenty for families to do, whatever the weather.

Our house is an Edwardian period (1910) cottage with a modern extension providing plenty of space for family living. There is one double and two single bedrooms upstairs together with a main bathroom complete with bath and separate shower. The second double bedroom is located downstairs and has an en-suite shower room. From here, a small reception area leads into a separate sitting room with log burning stove. At the back of the house there is a bright, spacious kitchen and living area with folding doors opening onto a timber deck overlooking the garden.

The kitchen is well equipped with two ovens, a microwave, five ring gas hob, large fridge / freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The family area has Wi-Fi, satellite TV, DVD player, Nintendo Wii and a SONOS wireless music system. There is gas central heating and access to garden seating, a barbecue and bicycles.

Nearby there is access to walking, cycling, horse riding and golf. Perth has a wide range of facilities including a large swimming pool, sports centre, two large parks with children's play areas, IMAX cinema, concert hall, theatre, go-karting and ten pin bowling, a public golf course and many excellent restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars. Historic Scone Palace a few miles away is a major attraction with beautiful grounds, a cafe and children's play park.

Further afield but still only an hour by car, Edinburgh and Glasgow are major cities with a huge variety of cultural, shopping and entertainment opportunities. There are too many to mention but we will leave full details of our favourite places to go.

Other destinations include Dundee just 20 minutes down the road which has plenty to offer, including the recently opened V&A Museum. St Andrews is only 45 minutes away, a beautiful and historic place with wonderful beaches and great restaurants (I think it has a golf course, too) and travelling north into the Perthshire countryside, places to head for include Dunkeld and Pitlochry.
