We live in Normandy near the capital of the region : CAEN.
Located between land and sea, 2 hours from Paris (220 km from Caen) and 10 minutes from the beaches, on the road to the famous Mont Saint-Michel (about 140 km ) , Caen, the capital of Lower Normandy, is a vibrant, buzzing city blending a rare wealth of heritage and culture with a wide array of high-quality tourist facilities.
The Normandy landing and all the beaches of the D-Day are about 25 km from Vieux the village were we are living. In Caen ( 8 km) we will find all the commodities ( bank, supermarkets, restaurants …)
In Vieux-la-Romaine there is an archological museum you can visit every day.
The museum and Vieux-la-Romaine archaeological sites welcome you for a season with lots to discover!
All along your walk through the site of a reconstructed prosperous Roman house, as you tour the museum opened in 2002 you will see the archaeological remains of the ancient capital, Aregenua. The permanent exhibition will enable you to get familiar with the inhabitants' daily routine.
Films, tactile objects, presentations of the collections in live conditions... The museum is a lively place, built in the prospect to offer you a clear and human view on archaeology.
Relaxing spaces, an ancient times inspired garden where it feels good to picnic, a shop or else large spaces for wandering around, everything was made so the museum would be the most agreeable and convivial to you!
