Lovely house with beautiful garden in a village 12 miles from the City of Cambridge
Recently modernised house with 3 double bedrooms. Lovely south-facing garden with covered terrace, with plenty of outdoor seating and a BBQ. Close to public transport with links to Cambridge, Ely and London. Good local pubs and cafes in the village. The village of Willingham is historically significant for its position mid-way between Cambridge and Ely. There are fast trains to London from Cambridge and Huntingdon for a day's sightseeing. The market towns of Ely and St Ives (both on the river) are within easy reach. You can get around on public transport but having a car makes journeys faster. To travel into the centre of Cambridge for the day there is a free park and ride car park at the busway, a few minutes drive (approx 20 minutes walk) from the house where you can get a fast bus into the Centre.
The railway station at Huntingdon is a 25 minute drive and has good parking available. Trains to London are regular and take between 55 minutes and just over an hour into London St Pancras.
Our house is well-equipped for children and babies as our grandson visits regularly and has his own bedroom here. His room has a toddler bed that can be converted to a cot if needed. We also have a smaller travel cot for a smaller child, plus a high chair and changing mat as well as toys and books for young children. There are a number of board games for older children too.

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
Willingham is a good-sized friendly village 12 miles from the City of Cambridge. There are two well-stocked small supermarkets plus a bakery, butcher and several farm shops selling fresh fruit and vegetables. There is also a pharmacy very close to our house. There are three village pubs, two of which serve very good reasonably priced meals. The Porterhouse Pub does delicious takeaway pizza. There is an Indian restaurant and takeaway, a fish and chip shop and Chinese takeaway. The village also has a good beauty salon and hair salon.
There is a well-equipped children's playground at the recreation ground. The nearest public swimming pool is in the village of Histon (5 miles) or there is big leisure pool in Cambridge.

This was our first exchange and Teresa was very helpful in making sure everything went smoothly. We met to exchange keys and Teresa and her family were friendly and also gave us lots of advice about their neighbourhood and nearby places to visit. The house was as described. It was spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. We had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay.Their garden was delightful and we enjoyed sitting outside for our evening meals. We felt relaxed and "at home" during our time at Teresa's house. The nesting dove and home-made jam were extra treats that helped to make our time in Willingham very special. The house is very well located for exploring Cambridgeshire. It is only a five minute drive to the local busway station where there is free parking and buses to Cambridge, St.Ives, Huntingdon and Ely. We particularly enjoyed visiting the nearby National Trust properties at Anglesey Abbey and the Wimple Estate. When we came home it was clear that Teresa and her family had taken good care of it. Thank you Teresa and Trevor for ensuring our first Intervac exchange was a great experience.
Lovely couple, lovely house, lovely location not far from the beach. We would hope to exchange with Judith again in the future.
Lovely people, fabulous home in a fantastic location. Have exchanged with Howard twice now and would do so again if invited!

We are a semi-retired couple in our 60s. Trevor is a recently retired editor of educational resources and I am a consultant in education and come from a family of teachers.
We have two adult daughters who both live in London with their partners. We had several house exchange holidays when our girls were teenagers travelling as far as Canada. Mostly our exchanges now will be just the two of us but there may be times when the girls and their partners may come with us. We love the whole house exchange experience as it's so much more than just a holiday as we get to experience how other families live. We enjoy making people welcome at our home. Although we have 3 double bedrooms there are other living spaces where people can sleep and we have a good comfortable airbeds and lots of bedding so we're happy for extra guests. At Christmas we host a party every year and usually end up with 12 people sleeping over!
We love to entertain friends and family so our kitchen is very well equipped for feeding a crowd!
