3-Bed House in Grounds of Lough Rynn, County Leitrim, Ireland

The house we offer is our second home located in the lake land region of Ireland in the beautiful country estate of Lough Rynn. The location is characterised by a castle hotel (www.loughrynn.ie), a popular venue for tourists and Irish families celebrating weddings and special occasions.
Our house is located 500 meters from the Castle in the grounds and many people who stay there attend events in the hotel. We spend lots of time there also and it is our 'country cottage' a haven from the busy city and a great place to relax.
Lough Rynn is the old estate home of Lord Leitrim and features beautiful walled Victorian gardens and an superbly landscaped grounds. The situation is between two lakes and there are numerous trails and walks in the area.
The hotel has many ante rooms in the lobby where high tea, cocktails and quality bar food are served. There is also an excellent restaurant for fine dining.
The house has three bedrooms and is furnished throughout. It sleeps five. It is part of a residential development in the grounds with shared common landscaped gardens.
We often rent this house and the website may be viewed at www.loughrynnrental.ie
The nearby town is Mohill a ten minute drive or 35 minute walk.

Things to do at Lough Rynn
Leitrim is a stunning county, and from your home base at Lough Rynn, you can venture out to discover the region and check out plenty of local attractions. Here are some suggestions:

Nearest towns

Mohill is the closest town – you can get there in about five minutes by car, or a pleasent 35-minute walk. It’s got these cool local shops, hair salons, garden centers, meat shops, cafes, pubs, and even a bank.

Dromod is beautifully situated on the banks of the Shannon River, just a short and scenic ten-minute drive away. It boasts a charming harbour that warmly welcomes Shannon boats. The village is known for its lively atmosphere, especially during the vibrant summer months when the boats gracefully dock here.

Adults and kids can visit the Leitrim Cavan Railway exhibition in Dromod (near the train station).

Carrick-on-Shannon is the biggest local town and just a quick twenty-minute drive away. This vibrant town is home to a plethora of shops and fantastic restaurants. The Shannon boat harbour attracts numerous visitors, and it’s the perfect spot to explore large supermarkets. As the county town, this place has a vibrant nightlife, with plenty of pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Take a stroll along the Shannon River and soak up the lively atmosphere. Other activities for children in Carrick on Shannon where there is a cinema, swimming pool and both kids and adult’s bowling.

You should definitely find time to visit the The Dock in Carrick on Shannon this is a theatre, performing arts space and an exhibition centre. Check out their web site for upcoming shows attractions.

The golf club at Carrick on Shannon is a wonderful course embedded in the meanders of the Shannon River with fantastic views and the course is a worthy challenge for golfers at all levels (it’s ‘out the Boyle Road’)

Glencar Waterfall A real natural gem, this waterfall is a sight to behold. The cascading waters will leave you in awe.

Sliabh an Iarainn Hiking enthusiasts will be in heaven here. This mountain provides breathtaking views and a great challenge for outdoor enthusiasts.

Drumshanbo This charming town is famous for its traditional music and lively atmosphere. Enjoy some good craic and maybe even join in on a traditional music session.

Arigna Mining Experience Step back in time and explore the fascinating history of coal mining in this interactive museum. Learn about the tough but interesting lives of the miners.

These are just a few highlights, but trust me, there’s so much more to discover in Leitrim! So get out there and have an amazing time exploring the local attractions!

Lifestyle

We believe that Lough Rynn would be very suitable for a family/group interested in walking/fishing or cycling (we would love to arrange exchange of bikes).
The location is quiet - there would be plenty of room for children - but they will need to be into the country life.
We like the local food and produce.
The location is an excellent base to explore the West and North West of Ireland
