My house is located in the village of Rosscarbery Co. Cork. It is a picturesque, historic village overlooking a sandy inlet of the rugged West Cork coastline. The house is within walking distance of 3 Blue Flag beaches at Warren Strand, Owenahincha and Long Strand. A pitch and putt course is located on the sand dunes of Warren Strand, while the lagoon is a wildlife reserve where ducks, swans, waders and migratory birds can be observed. The Lagoon Activity Center offers water sports, pedal boats or canoes and surf lessons are available at Warren Strand in summer. A children's playground and tennis courts are a two minute walk from the house.
Rosscarbery offers estuary, rock, deep sea and fresh water fishing.
Archaeological features such as megalithic tombs, stone circles and standing stones are found in the area, the most famous being Drombeg Stone Circle.
The many quiet rural lanes running through scenic countryside with breathtaking views of land and sea, make Rosscarbery a walker's or runner's paradise.

GB091848We had really good exchange with Anne Marie in her lovely home in the village of Rosscarbery. We spoke a few times on the phone before and during our exchange. The house is on the street but has a secluded garden and a lovely sunroom. There is a village square close by that has everything you need, bars, restaurants, take-aways, pharmacy and a convenience shop that sells homemade scones everyday. There are lovely beaches close by, the nearest is about a mile away and a lagoon in the village where you can swim and hire kayaks.
I picked Anne Marie up from a railway station, as she flew into Manchester, then she had the use of my car whilst staying in our house.
