Sunny and lovely flat in the heart of VENEZIA, Italy
The apartment is about 100m2, located at the first floor of a house built in XVI sec. and renewed during 50’s, and consists of six rooms quite all of the same dimension: two bedrooms, one bathroom with the shower. Besides a study with a good library, a spacious living room and a wide kitchen. The front door and the stairs to climb to the first floor are independent.
All the rooms are decorated with some object-memory of our many travels all around the world.
The first picture you can see on our Intervac web site shows the façade of the house; every room has two big windows exposed to South and they overlook a little square (in Venetian language “campo”) and a canal (“rio”). The scenic picture of our Intervac page (photo 8) is exactly the view from the windows. The house is very sunny!
In the colourful living room (photos 2 and 3) there is a big table, a blue sofa (it is a sofa bed for 2 guests. It’s very comfortable and easy to open and close), a wide screen LCD-TV (42-inch) and a hi-fi set.
We like music and in the study/library room (photo 4) you will find a lot of CD: classical music, opera (Caterina loves to sing as an amateur soprano), jazz, pop, Italian singers, etc... Cinema is Omar’s passion so there are many DVD at home, most of which are also in English. There are some touristic books about Venice in English that we hope you will appreciate, besides a few English titles (some novel above all).
The kitchen (photo 5) is large and modern as we are good cooks, or we try at least; the window faces a small garden with a beautiful and colourful wisteria.
The main bedroom (photo 6) is large, with a double wooden bed. The second bedroom is our daughter Bianca’s space, so it’s colourful and full of toys (photo 7).
We love nature so the living room is full of plants and flowers, as the balconies too, but, don’t worry, they don’t need any particular assistance.
The house is equipped with air conditioning and free wifi.

Il nostro quartiere
The historical centre of Venice is divided into six areas, called “sestieri” (sei=six); we live in the “sestiere” of Santa Croce, the western part of the city.
We have a lot of green around home: public (with a children playground) and private gardens and a lot of trees in the streets and in the “campo” in front of the house. The palaces in the surroundings are generally built from XVI to XVIII sec. but still inhabited; all the numerous canals are crossed by private boats and used as boatpark. In summer, the gondolas pass in front of our windows, playing typical Venetian music.
The whole of Venice is generally a safe city.
If you travel by train, the railway station S.Lucia is 5 minutes from home. If you arrive by car, there are lot of parking that we can suggest you, more or less convenient. From the Venice Airport “Marco Polo”, it takes 30 minutes by public bus to reach Piazzale Roma, the coach station, one of the doors of Venice. The apartment is just one bridge from P.le Roma, it’s very easy to reach.
Our home is also at only 100 meters from the public navigation water lines (“vaporetto”) stop. The Venetian public boat service is very efficient even if expensive: for example, San Marco square is only 30 minutes by boat, along the Canal Grande. There are also other lines to the lagoon islands (Murano, Burano and Torcello are the main ones and the trip by boat, as a public waterbus, in a sunny day, permits you to admire all the lagoon!) and the Lido’s beach (the public beach is open since the end of May to the mid of September).
Rialto bridge and its fish and vegetable market is just 20 minutes walking from the house, such as Accademia bridge, where is located the famous Accademia museum (masterpieces of Bellini, Giorgione, Carpaccio, Tiziano, Tintoretto, Veronese and Tiepolo) and the Guggenheim museum.
A large, well-stocked supermarket (Coop) is located just 3 minutes from home, but if you want to buy local fresh produces, such as fruit, vegetables, bread and fish, several local stalls are in the surroundings, above all in Santa Margherita area.
Venice is becoming more and more uninhabited by Venetian, because high competition of tourist industry, and every year more and more crowded by tourists. The area where we live, instead, is still full of Venicians and students and it’s still possible to quietly have a walk around.
There are good small, traditional and vary crowded “bacari” (Venetian inns) where you can drink a red wine glass (“goto de rosso”, in Venetian language), or white if you prefer, and eat something standing.
If it isn’t the first time you come to Venice, we can suggest you also some unusual (not too touristy) place to visit all around the area we live: a new way to discover our fascinating city!
