Mill Bay, Canada

We offer a rural ocean front property in Mill Bay, BC. Our locale offers the quiet tranquility of a 2.25 acre property with a oceanfront beach (a canoe, and a kayak are available). On the acreage there are two homes, ours and my in-laws, and the homes are 50 metres apart. On the property, which is oceanfront, there is a 30 m trail that leads to the beach which is approximately 30 m long. We leave our boats down on the shoreline - so no need to carrying them.
Even after living here for over 30 years, we still marvel on how quiet and peaceful it is here. There is a minimum lot size restriction of 2.25 acres, which provides amble privacy. It is still an "event" when a car goes by our house.

The main floor is an open living space consisting of the kitchen, dining area, and living room. Downstairs at ground level, there are two bedrooms, and a laundry room. The backyard acts like an extension of the house with paving stone patio and large deck.

Local stores and shops are minutes away by car, or if you are adventurous, a quick paddle across the bay by canoe!

Mill Bay has the best of both worlds, as it is 45 minutes drive to Victoria, BC's capital city, while maintaining its rural status. In the Cowichan Valley, known as the Warmlands by the local indigenous peoples, there are many outdoor sites to visit. Freshwater lakes and rivers are within a 10 minute drive from our home.
Seattle, and Vancouver are 3 hrs away by ferry. A day trip to Vancouver is possible, as there is a walk on ferry that takes you directly to downtown Vancouver. It departs frequently from Nanaimo, which is a hour drive from Mill Bay.
The rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, is 2 to 3 hours away heading west, and going north there is Mt.Washington, which offers breath-taking views from the chairlift.

The east coast of Vancouver Island is often compared the Mediterranean, and in July and August the weather is ideal, and our place being oceanfront rarely gets too hot or humid. Local lakes and rivers with public parks provide ample opportunity to swim, and of course, we have our own private beach if swimming in the ocean is more to your liking - wait for a high tide after a hot day, and the water is like a warm bath.

There are three 18 hole golf courses in the Cowichan Valley, and Arbutus Ridge Golf and Country Club, is the closest, a 5 minute car ride away. Heading south to Victoria there is Bear Mountain, and the Royal Colwood golf courses.

Salmon fishing is nearest peak in August, with renown fishing destinations, Sooke, Port Alberni, and Campbell River, all within a half day's drive.
