About the neighborhood

Situated in the quiet leafy north of the city, the house is a two minute walk from the Botanic Gardens. There are multiple parks and green spaces in the surrounding area.

Surrounded by local cafes, coffee houses, restaurants and cosy suburban pubs/bars.

There are two supermarkets that can be reached on foot in five minutes, but both have car-parks too if required.

It is a twenty minute walk to city centre. There are excellent bus links. It takes less than ten minutes by bus to reach the heart of Edinburgh and all the wonderful arts and culture the city has to offer. Our neighbourhood has wonderful links to the city’s cycle paths and pedestrian walk ways, linking the vibrant Stockbridge and trendy Leith areas.

Sehr nettes Reihenhaus, mit Hintergarten samt Gartenhäuschen mit extra Schlafgelegenheit. Gleich zu Beginn lernten wir die freundlichen Nachbarn kennen, die uns zu einem Fitness Nachmittag einluden. Am meisten begeistert waren wir von den vielen Wander- und Laufmöglichkeiten gleich beim Haus, die uns in Nachbarschaftsorte, zum Hafen und zur Küste oder direkt in die Innenstadt führten, alles fußläufig innerhalb von ca. 20 Minuten erreichbar. Edinburgh ist eine typisch schottische Stadt mit der massiven Burg am Hügel, dem erloschenen Vulkan "Arthurs Seat" als Hausberg und den vielen Bars und Häusern im georgianischen oder viktorianischen Stil. Ausflüge in die Highlands, Glasgow und in die rauhen Küstenregionen rundeten den Besuch ab!

Brian and Caroline were superb, communicative exchange partners. They made us feel extremely welcome in their beautiful home, which had all the amenities we could have hoped for. The location was idyllic and ideal for exploring upper Austria and beyond. We made trips to the amazing lakes and popped in to Czechia for the day, which was fabulous. When not visiting different places we spent time relaxing around the attractive garden and swimming in the wonderful natural pond. This house is built for holiday relaxation and we loved every day of our trip.

As a first exchange for us, this was an amazing home exchange. Curtis and Cindy’s home is beautiful. Their neighbours nearby are kind, thoughtful and friendly. We could not have wished for better. We feel privileged to have been able to stay in their home. The surrounding area was so safe, convenient for travel to the wider Bay Area with an abundance of local amenities. We spent so much time just relaxing in the beautiful garden and on so many days did not want to leave. Cindy and Curtis left our house clean, tidy and were very respectful of our neighbours. Could not have asked for a better home exchange. Excellent communication throughout exchange period and preceding holiday.
