Small coastal cottage in quaint village of Bolinas, just north of San Francisco, California.
Our West Marin home is small, well-loved, and surrounded by beauty. In a short walk to both the south and west, you will find the Pacific Ocean. To the north you will find the Point Reyes national seashore, and the east Mount Tamalpais, which you will observe from the bed as you enjoy the sunrise over its ridge. With the quiet, natural surroundings, we regularly have wildlife visit us. Our town, Bolinas, is a popular destination from travelers all over the world seeking beauty and artistic personality. It is about an hour drive to San Francisco, and about 1.5 hours to the Napa Valley wine country.
In addition to the main house, we have a small outdoor room with a full-sized bed and electricity. I had thought to use that room as storage for some of our things, but if you need to use it, I could consider a different plan.
The bedroom has a convertible bed. When converted, the room can be used for yoga and a small office space.
There is one official bedroom, as well as a separate small room with a high-end couch that is also a guest twin-sized bed (it has one big, flat cushion designed for sleeping once the back cushions are removed.)

About the neighborhood
There is a small downtown area in Bolinas with four restaurants (Coast Cafe, Smiley's Saloon, Eleven, and BoVida) as well as two stores which include a local butcher and all organic produce. Additionally, there are two farm stands run by local farmers. There are two museums, a liquor store with an excellent wine selection, and of course the best attraction in town - THE BEACH, which is friendly to beginning surfers! Visitors also enjoy the tennis court, skateboard park, basketball court, and two playgrounds. There are many hiking trails in Bolinas (the most famous is Alamere Falls/Bass Lake trail), as well as in the closest town, Stinson Beach, where you will find a delicious bakery (The Parkside) and several charming shops.
Should you want to take public transportation from the airport to Bolinas, you would need to take the Marin Airporter bus from SFO to the Manzanita stop in Mill Valley. Then you need to walk several blocks to the West Marin Stage (Westbound) which will deliver you to downtown Bolinas. From there you will need to arrange a lift - if the hour is reasonable, we could probably recruit a friend. Additionally, we have friends who offer ride services from SFO or the Manzanita lot to Bolinas. Ride services such as Lyft or Uber can be difficult and expensive once you are in the more rural areas, so I don't recommend relying on those.

I will be traveling from the states alone, and meeting up with some friends in Ireland. My teenage son will be staying at his dad's house close to our home here in Bolinas, but can meet you when you arrive to show you how everything works, give you the key, and be available if any questions come up. My older son is away at college, but if you come while he is on holiday, he teaches surf lessons to all levels and ages :-)
