Comfortable town house in Exeter
Our house was built in the 1930s and is set in a good location near the city centre. The house retains many period features but has been modernised throughout, with its kitchen and bathrooms being well fitted and equipped.
It is very spacious, full of character, nicely decorated and fitted with central heating throughout. It has three areas of garden, all fully enclosed by stone and brick walls. There is a comfortable space to prepare and eat food outside during the summer months. In front of the house is parking for several cars and a double garage if needed.
Downstairs is a large kitchen with hob, two ovens, dishwasher, and a good number of modern kitchen units. In the middle of the room is a large family table that can seat eight people. Adjoining the kitchen is a utility room containing fridge/freezer, larder and washing machine. This room also provides access to the side garden.
There are two main living rooms. The larger one is very spacious, with sofa, chairs, and hi-fi and piano. The other room has a sofa and TV.
Upstairs there are two bathrooms and 5 further rooms, three of which are currently used as bedrooms. The main double bedroom has its own bathroom, with shower and separate bath. The second bedroom also has a double bed. There are two offices. Two mattresses provide more sleeping accommodation as necessary.

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
Exeter is a fine old cathedral city, with a large university. The centre is within easy walking distance of our house and offers theatres, cinemas, museums as well as plenty of pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the coast by car or bus. If necessary one can reach London in just over two hours by train.
The county of Devon itself offers a wide range of landscapes and is especially famous for the wilderness of Dartmoor. The county has a large number of National Trust and other historic houses where one can learn much about the historic lifestyle and backdrop to the area. If one wishes to experience the quiet of the countryside Dartmoor is within easy reach. Equally there is the thrill of the seaside where the waves attract swimmers and surfers alike.

It was an absolutely wonderful exchange. A quiet place, beautifully located, the old house with its rural charm is very special.
The house was lovely spacious and very comfortable. The pictures of the house on the intervac site are true to life. The intervac family were absolutely lovely and went out of their way to welcome us into their home and in any follow up correspondence. They were very respectful of our home and looked after it like their own.
Very beautiful house and region! Nice and friendly family to communicate with.
A beautiful property in the bucolic Devon countryside. Within easy reach of the coast and ideally located for touring the surrounding di g areas.

Exeter is an appealing city with a fine cathedral and plenty to do. We love walking and cycling in the countryside. Lovely coast and moorland are very close.
