Flat in Weimar, Germany

At the moment we are not able to exchange.

We live in a comfortable 100qm /  3 bedroom apartment in an old villa in a good and quiet area not far from Weimar city center. It has a nice garden where summer guests will also be able to harvest fruit and vegetables.
Weimar is Germany's city of classics and was Europe's cultural capital in 1999. It is mostly known as the home of Germany's most famous poets Goethe and Schiller, whose residences you can visit. The original Bauhaus was founded here and the Belgian arcitect Henry van de Velde built a number of houses. Weimar has an inner city castle, the Anna Amalia library with its famous Rokoko hall is one of the oldest libraries in Europe. There are several beautiful parks along the river Ilm and around the Belvedere castle. The river Saale with its vinyards and castles is not far. Right behind our house the Feininger bike route starts where you can bike along places where the painter Lionel Feininger found his images.
A sad but important sight is the concentration camp Buchenwald.
The cities of Erfurt and Jena are not far (both 30 minutes drive), but you can also visit Leipzig and Dresden if you are willing to drive a bit longer (one and a half to two hours drive).

We are a patchwork family of 5. Lars is a geographer working as a city planner, Andrea is a project and event manager mostly involved in socio-cultural projects. She is currently working with refugees. We are both interested in outdoor activities and cultural sights.
Julian (born February 2004) loves his bike and going bouldering/ climbing. He is studying sustainable engineering at Freiburg and is probably not travelling with us, at least not the whole time. Jonathan (born October 2009) loves any kind of sports, especialy acrobatics and computer games, and Selma (born May 2011), no less active than her older siblings, enjoys horse back riding, figure skating, wind surfing, baking and crafts of all kinds.
Altogether we mostly enjoy biking or hiking, but also swimming, bouldering or visits of interesting cities.
In september 2012 cat Filou (born July 2012) joined our family - his name means rascal which he truly is.
We have 2 quails in a cage in the garden that will need looking after. But it's quite easy and really not much of an effort. They will reward your good care with fresh eggs every day. They are quite old and they might no longer be there when we exchange.
We have an electrical piano which you may use.
